Boris De Jong, Owner 3WW: “Your Product Has Potential. But Will Your Words Convince?”

Boris De Jong, Owner 3WW

In September 2010, Boris de Jong founded Triple Word Score (3WW); a team of professionals in writing and editing, with a collective legacy of creative and corporate content that goes back to 2000 and beyond. 3WW offers fully bilingual services, being able to converse and write fluently both in English and Dutch.

“Could you write that piece again? And this time… make it more boring, please.”

“Of course I understood that to write for an established copywriting agency means to adopt the tones and styles dictated there. But I reasoned there had to be clients that would appreciate the creative flourish I naturally apply to my work. I also wanted to take my artistic impulses more seriously – I’ve always spent a portion of my time writing poetry and songs – and to apply that artistic color to my commercial projects.”

“So, after some soul searching, I started 3x Word Score – my own, one-man agency. I wasn’t disappointed. I’m driven by the desire to make the world more understandable to people, and to increase their happiness learning about what other people are doing. Ignorance is not bliss – it’s the precondition for hatred.”

When asked what he has learned in his years as as entrepreneur, De Jong answered:  “Being able to pay the bills with the freelance work you do, does not make you an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur is more than just ‘starting a business’. Being an entrepreneur is a mindset and attitude that some have and most don’t. I’ve yet to apply that knowledge and grow my business beyond my own creative mind, but the message itself is clear to me…”
