They gave powerful insights in their worlds of groundbreaking entrepreneurship, determination and perseverance. All while slowly spinning around on a massive lit up stage supported by interactive video content on huge screens and top musical entertainment in the Ziggo Dome.
Branson opened the evening in Amsterdam, The Netherlands with a solid interview by Dutch journalist Eva Jinek. Jinek smoothly guided the Virgin Group head honcho through stories of his youth in England, getting slapped around at boarding school and his impressive career as one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. Key take away: Screw it just do it! And while you’re at it don’t forget to have some fun along the way.
After Branson survival expert and TV personality Bear Grylls took the stage. The British adventurer got the undivided attention of the crowd with an intense monologue about how he first broke his back in three spots while parachute jumping before he climbed Mount Everest and what it takes to do so. In the following interview session Grylls emphasized the importance of taking a risk to realize your dreams, something any entrepreneur at heart can relate to.
Harvard Business School professor Anita Elberse had an impassioned plea for excellence during her keynote speech. She underscored the importance of standing out and taking matters into your own hand. “Take the risk and dare to gamble. Don’t stay where you are and abide in mediocrity”. Elberse impressed with her powerful personality and compelling story.
Al Gore closed the evening in an impressive way. He got everybody clinging on to what he was saying in no time. With a Nobel prize to back up his story. The former Vice President of the United States warned that climate change still is our biggest threat. “It really is five minutes to twelve and time is running out fast” said Gore however he also emphasized that “we’re winning this thing! Solar and wind power are the future and there are tons of opportunities these times bring for entrepreneurs.” With those words Gore summarized Inspiration 360 like the boss he is. It was truly an inspirational event where the top of the entrepreneurial, intellectual and motivating world impressed.
